Example: a domino that sits at 2 inches tall, will be able to know over a 4 inch domino.

Another semi-silly issues that arise might be changing out the dishwasher since that little height difference becomes a problem --- I've known a few homeowners who have had to remove several inches of the flooring in front of the dishwasher to change it out...New builds tend to do it in reverse mainly because of the new construction process and the order you get the trades in.

Generally speaking if the foundation/floor is 1 inch or more in deviation then the foundation needs to be repaired in that area.  

Give an inch, take a mile : )   I would guess they are just seeing what they can get away with. 

My best deals come from Wholesalers, but I don't trust them one inch!!
