If they did not kick me out of the country I would live there most of the year.. but now just a tourist.. 

You can be in a tourist town that has a nice downtown but go to the outskirts of the town and it will be third world. 

I was going to use it as a vacation home, but I could rent it out while I am not there, it is in a tourist area.

I outlined some of the highlights to hit in town and made sure to include cool stuff that the typical tourist would not normally run into.People LOVED that info I created! 

Is it located near any tourist areas?  

I've also been told looking in specific areas of the country might be more difficult to explain away - Hawaii, Florida, SoCal, etc are all tourist draws.

Yes , all of Florida has a tourist season but the dates change as to what the season is depending on where in Florida you are.

We are not a tourist destination but we get a lot of fishermen. 

If so, those types of properties are in high demand here (phoenix metro) and command a price premium (assuming it's a nice property in a desirable tourist area).
