Flip it on its head and ask yourself if you were selling the property as a daycare and it looked like it originally did and when the buyer went for his final walk through you had taken out all the cabinets and sinks and painted over all the murals/decorations, would he still want to buy it and give you the same amount of money?

I do like the way that the differences in luxury, higher middle, lower middle, and lower income decorating and fixtures was displayed.

Just spent lots of time reading the various magazines (Architectural Digest is a great one - it has almost nothing to do with architecture and is all design and interior decorating), ordering books from Amazon, spending hours walking the isles at the tile/flooring shops, checking out other websites like pintrest, houzz, wayfair, etc. 

We use vertical blinds over sliding glass doors.For our vintage homes we sometimes use roller shades to match the era of the house.In addition, we install nice decorative curtain rods in living rooms.

There has been a LARGE number of home/apt decorating completed using GRAY PAINT colors.   

Now if you walk into a bedroom, it'll look like Hugh Hefner himself decorated it.
