Your best skills can grow exponentially when the basic necessities of life are covered and you don't trade time for money. 

I made the sacrifices of not spending any time with friend, going on vacation, and only spending my money on necessities. 

@Bruce Woodruff..... while "want" has some major influence on where people decide to live, so does necessity..... what do you do for a living?

Force it short term to get to your next step, but only out of desire and not necessity.

Necessity drives innovation

I suppose it doesn’t necessarily have to be greed but what else is it if one already has every necessity  in life financially covered 3x over if not many times more?

Stimulus money that is being given out is currently being spent on necessities. 

I also find myself thinking how bad the economic situation might become once everyone's benefits runs out.. will crime rates rise, will suicide rates rise, will your neighbors out of necessity become your enemy?  

Along the lines of what @Mike McCarthy said, why not offer a generator to the building and run temp power to the necessities. 

I see large apparel type places getting really hit hard versus necessity based and experiential retail.
