On the other hand, one of my houses has an HVAC unit that is sized a little too big for the house, and if I don't change the filter every two months it doesn't get enough airflow and the entire unit freezes up.

If I were wholesaler, I would go so far as to give them their market options pro's and con's, and even explain their right of bankruptcy to freeze their assets, both pro's and con's.

It's great to quickly heat up a freezing basement.

When it's below freezing outside it's still nice to have a 220v electric wall heater or baseboard heat especially for larger spaces.

Some units however will cut out when the outdoor temp gets to not much below freezing.

In a way, regulations help bigger businesses freeze newer small competitors from entering the market.

I just got out of the Army last year and one thing I hated was being in the barracks and the powers that be had already changed the units from heating to A/C or vice versa, then we'd suddenly get a drastic change in weather and we are all freezing or cooking because the temps can't be adjusted the other direction for the rest of the season. 

So in this recent deep freeze, our water line froze between the house and the street.

We are going into a liquidity freeze in housing (already underway.) the “no inventory” myth is about to be exposed quickly.
