If you won the lottery, would you want that money up-front or wait for it year by year?

First, because I think it's the right thing to do.Second, because as the tagline for the NY State Lottery used to say (using your best Bronx accent), "Hey...ya' never know!"

So is buying one lottery ticket and willing big.

If you are expecting this knowledge to be free, please stop thinking in terms of “The lottery mindset” where no effort or extremely tiny effort is needed to achieve a huge return.

You can look at your amo schedule right now and see how much interest you will pay if you stick to that schedule, but if you win the lottery and pay off the balance tomorrow, you won't pay that interest.

We have 2 STRs that we have had as STRs since 1999 that have to win a lottery to continue as STRs.  

I am shocked - based on the number of TOT certificates, I thought for sure that there would be a lottery though not enough people applied and we got all 4 of our licenses.

And if your goal is to hit the lottery and have a house fall in your lap, then I would probably look at the lower end of houses to where someone may just walk away from it.
