I would say the regionalization and Development of Detroit into an international destination.

If you're open to out of state investments, Birmingham AL is seeing a lot of growth and the city is pushing hard to become a destination.

The sort of drivable, regional vacation destinations that are not on the radar of most out of state investors.

It is important to get clear on your goals, your destination, etc, then you can develop the path to get there.

It's no surprise that the most popular relocation destinations are in some of the lower cost of living areas.

It's not a particularly great place to live...I mean, it's fine, but certainly not a destination spot.  

@Robert Brown personally I'd avoid Sosua, as it's a destination for sex tourism.There is also Santo Domingo, which attracts business travellers as well and the nearby beach city of Juan Dolio.

Santa Fe, for many many years, has been more of a vacation and retirement destination.
