Frustrated with HOA rental restrictions!

Posted

I'm just here venting. I finally saved up enough capital to purchase a decent town home or condo in Las Vegas. I want to use the property as a vacation home and rent my property out when I'm not using it. but I need it to be month to month and every single property I've put a offer on which is 5 I have to cancel because when I read the rules and regulations in the CC&R's the home must be rented out for at least 6 months! Super frustrating! I just want to be able to rent my property out and have the option to enjoy it as a vacation home as well. But I can't do that if a long term lease is in place! I understand HOA concerns with airb&b but they should allow home owners month to month options or atleast 3 month leases options! Im stating to think most HOA's won't allow month to month and it's super frustrating. I might have to save up more capital to buy single family home which sucks! It's also annoying that you can't obtain official cc&r rules until offers is accepted which is a waste of time!

The listing agent should be able to tell you if there are age or rental restrictions before you even view the home.  Also talk to your realtor as they should know some of the condos that are used as airBNB or medium term rentals.
