I'm criticizing the writers of the article for not better positioning and interpreting the numbers.  

However I was asking questions to a couple lenders and all of them tell me that the under writer of the loan most likely will not approve the loan because I don't have a good enough reason to go from a single family to a multi-family unit.

Had I been a realtor or the writer of the article, I'd have written something along these lines instead: "While it's in theory possible to get a mortgage from a Mexican bank, the process is excruciatingly bureaucratic and you're practically guaranteed to have to pay a double-digit interest rate.

It's a Pulitzer-prize winning book by a Harvard sociologist about low income renters in Milwaukee.The writer lived among his subjects to write the book (but of course he sees it through the lens of a sociologist, not a business-person).
