Anybody on BP operating in Montreal Canada, or in Quebec ?

Hey guys, I’m in Quebec, Canada and looking to purchase a cabin/country house for personal leisure purposes.

I would like to know if you have been able to achieve that in the province of Quebec.

I think only BC and Quebec have online databases to try and look up criminal history. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hard-to-check-crimin... you can check out this link, I know its from 2012, but as far as I have found this still stands.

I am also thinking of spending time at least part time in Montreal some time in the future (not now but maybe in a few years), and some preliminary research suggests a better return on investment in real estate in Montreal vs Toronto, so I am now considering buying a property in Montreal.However, I am also concerned about any implications given that I'm a US citizen and Canadian permanent resident living outside of Quebec.
