The three main reasons I like these types of investments is that, 1) A higher chance of healthy appreciation, 2) Lower annual costs (way under 50%) and 3) Higher quality of tenant, thus on time rents, less turnover and less damage to the house.

If we ignore the 2nd mortgages the banks are still carrying on their books at full value instead of zero, then sure, the banks look fairly healthy.
