I can't imagine a STR performing well without it unless it's a location that attracts outdoor activity people.Nicer routers have the option of setting up more than one network.

If you have a family, I'd skip the small condo in Seattle and go for something bigger, maybe in a place with more outdoor fun opportunities.

If you have a GFCI outlet on the back of the house, and they run an outdoor extension cord from that to the coop - OK. 

Your property sounds like it would cater very well to outdoor enthusiasts, with amenities/access that probably are not common, so those are things you'd want to highlight in your listing.  

close to putting in an offer on a really lovely 3BD modern ranch house in Lake Naomi, by far the nicest lake community in the Poconos with a huge spa-like clubhouse, pristine beaches, indoor and outdoor Olympic pools, tennis, golf, walking trails, etc.

The HOA fee is $175 a month which includes snow removal/lawn care/ fitness passes/ and the 6 wrist bands each day to the water parks and outdoor pools which are $15 a piece if you aren't staying on the Resort.
