When you leave your W2/LES you will have trouble getting approved for a normal SFH but you can utilize this year of deployment to study the multi family sector and work with a multi-family broker and lender so that when you come out of the Army you have purchased or are ready to purchase a 5-plex or higher, as commercial properties don't measure your income but instead measure the income produced by your property.
