They are part and parcel to a used house.If there is a serious issue, like rotten joists, missing roof tiles, lack of joist supports, hidden mold, etc. then indicate that it warrants further inspection from a contractor or engineer.

When they come back, they told me they knew I wasn't robbing the place, but since it was an active scene, it gave them the right to go into the house without a warrant to check for drugs and guns.

That's why  some Sherrif's dept demand that you not  pre-warn the tenant of the eviction date for the sherriff's safety.The whole point of these contractual clauses is to cater for situations where the conduct of a party is such that such hostility and threats have become warranted
