We recently purchased our first STR in the Dallas area, and have set up some cameras, sensors, etc. 

I've heard the cleaning company is the biggest piece in doing it yourself and this piece is a MUST have if you are going to do it on your own and are not in the state.We plan to install all smart devices, keypad, thermostat, cameras, etc to help monitoring it and managing it a little easier.Anyone have any advice on using management companies and how did that turn out, especially in this part of FL?

Increase your site security through fencing/driveway gates, exterior lighting, remote access surveillance system, high security key/fob access control.

Need both security cameras, motion sensors, alarms and gated access.  

Manage home that sits on a lot of acres and quite rural, tenants have security cameras up around the house.

I would ask for the contractors contracts since you need this for warranty, and verify the work was done.Things like putting cameras down each drain, checking all electrical, using an inspection camera between walls, checking for ice and water shield, proper waterproofing in shower by removing escutcheon plates, opening up the attic to see the roofing and trusts/joists, foundation inspections, catch basin inspections, is the bldg insulated properly, are windows installed properly?

Take clear pictures of the house without water drops on the camera. 

If you are a Realtor, take your camera and sit and make some movies that a person that is looking to invest in Hattiesburg would be interested in watching.

I had the line checked / hydro jetted and inside the crawl the pipes look to be in good shape but the camera revealed the lines out to the sewer are basically non existent.

and what smart things you put in your rentals (other them smart locks, thermostat, outside cameras, and lights)?
