Very informative.While its comforting to know that the courts ruled this way, I'm going to go through the motions anyway and eliminate any possible doubt re compliance of process.

In order to submit a Motion for Default judgement, I need to prove they’re not in the military.

If youneed a bit more time they will give you more as long as you tell them you have plans in motion or your working hard to fix the problem.

*Update* We appeared in front of the judge today for my tenants motion to dismiss and stop her eviction.

Do I have to go through the motions?

Tenant: I need to move in immediately, my lease is up tomorrow and I need to find a new place right away.Me: Fill out the application and I'll be able to let you know in an hour or two if you're approved.....I check the court records and she's currently being evicted and she's apparently fought it the entire way filing all kinds of motions to hold up it up for almost 3 months.

@Ben I.I am not a lawyer but as an associate real estate broker I wouldn't think that the seller can legally sell their home if there is a lawsuit in motion.

mode=newI've never tried searching in NC before, but I have had luck going to the tax assessor websites for various places and going through the motions to pay a tax bill for a particular property address. 

Too late now, things are in motion that can not be undone.
