This area is close to many amenities and transportation.

Say if your looking in a town that has an Excellent school system, not a big town 15k people with good transportation.

Flatbush, CanarsieBrooklyn (usually) will get you more access to public transportation and Queens will get you larger lot sizes for lower (or comparable) prices.I'd recommend walking/driving through different neighborhoods to get a feel for the commute and neighborhood.

I am taking care of her as far as daily expenses (groceries, transportation, etc), so looking to leverage her current investments to increase wealth.

My hope is that the property will continue to gain value because of the multiple bedrooms, small fenced yard and parking, as well as proximity to public transportation in an area filling in with high rises.So my big question mark is whether to proceed, given that this house is directly across the street from a low-income housing development.

People say the transportation system is pretty good there which is also a reason I think investing in north south expansion and areas close to the stations would be worth looking into.

Not to mention your close to shops and great access to public transportation.
