It probably does not matter to you personally until you need someones approval for something, or until legislation is made.

The media repeatedly said how "landlord friendly" our legislation is here in Ontario, yet we have the most tenant-friendly legislation in North America (go ahead, try me, California).

It might change (contractors may become more available again), but then there may be other worse consequences (tenants not paying etc.).So I don't dare to hope for one way vs. the other to happen... which is good because any stimulus legislation is out of my hands anyway 😂

It's just a proposed bill at this point, and while it may or may not become law (at least in current form), I think that it is a good indicator of where Sacramento is going towards in terms of tenant protections related to COVID-19.http://leginfo.legislature.ca....According to the legislative summary, the bill:-"Prohibits a landlord from applying a security deposit or monthly rental payment for the satisfaction of an obligation other than the prospective month’s rent if the obligation accrued  between the date a state of emergency relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was declared and either April 1, 2021, or 90 days after termination of the state of emergency, whichever is earlier (hereafter “effective time period”), unless the payment or security is specifically designated by the tenant for the obligation." 

At our local meetup the other night, @Joe O mentioned that this will be the first fall season in 3 years that we haven't had new legislation take effect impacting the foreclosure process here.  

Australia is or has passed legislation to curtail that, as has Hong Kong and Canada- indirectly with audits on their version of EB-5.

Vegas' recovery was largely due to their purchases at the time inventory shortages began due to new legislation back in 2011.

Then you'd be stuck with a parcel of land AND an illegal tiny house and be writing a horror-story post here for all of us to learn from.I'd say let someone else be the pioneer with the arrows in their back, and if later on when the city's legislation have finally addressed tiny houses in a comprehensive manner you can jump right on in.

Ontario's breed specific legislation is misguided and only serves to make residents afraid out of ignorance.
