Who is going to want to invest in a scheme of diminishing returns?

$7,500 invested in the market at 8% return over 3 years is close to $9,500 in total. 

You obviously don't get the tax benefits of real estate, but if you're just looking for "returns", then lending your money out could be advantageous for your goal.

STRs can bring great returns but are higher risk and more hands-on, like small-cap stocks, while long-term rentals are stable and predictable, like large-cap investments.

@Lisa AlbrightOne thing to consider is your return on equity (ROE).

Specifically:Will the lender only consider the rental income from the two legally zoned units, even though all three rental incomes are declared on your tax return?
