Repainting the exterior with these SW Repose gray (siding), SW snowbound white(trims) and SW rave red(door) but anyone with experience has some suggestions on whether to use 1 color on siding or paint horizontal and vertical siding with 2 different colors? 

I had intended on tearing the house down and building a horizontal property regime (HPR) 2-home with shared wall, and either selling one unit and living in the other, or long-term renting one unit and living in the other.  

Where operable windows are required or desired, casement/awning are your best design, followed by tilt-n-turn, then your single/double hung and, bringing up the rear, your horizontal slider.Finally, it also pays to "tune" your windows to your location and the exposure where they will be installed.  

Is there serious horizontal cracking of the foundation block? 

I also read that "buildings and structures on or adjacent to slopes steeper than 3 horizontal to 1 vertical" need H/2 setback from an upslope.

I think you're referring to a "Horizontal Property Regime" which is basically SC's term for a condo association. 

If all of it looked like the corner bead in the top photo, you'd be fine, but the horizontal one...well I could have done better than that.

Once you grow that vertical enough... then go (horizontal).
