Skimmed again.Why not look up legal requirements for option contracts, you know, like federal law under the UCC, you will find that for a valid option, that a specific sale price must be stated at the time the option is made, that price must be ascertainable in dollars at that time, you may not have an option contract that is dependent on any future event or condition.

The law was probably passed by the banks who don't want any investor "skimming" the bank loans as it really does not do much for homeowners and also it is good for the litigating attorneys who scan through the public records looking for investors to go after.

I've been reading "Mobile Home Wealth" by Zalman Velvel (2008, lots of good info--skim the table of contents) and "Buying Real Estate Without Cash Or Creadit" by Peter Conti.

Hey Ben,The books mentioned here are good resources and definitely skim through them, but some things I like to keep in mind are:One -  as an agent I have MLS access so it's always nice to find properties that look like flips on the MLS (ideally recently sold) then look back and see what they bought the property for.

If the owners went to a "we will stop your house from foreclosure" and the company took a fee off of them I could see that happening.Sounds like the owners are just milking more time without paying the mortgage.
