Wow, so I could write a book about my story that I am so excited about, but I will try to keep it somewhat short.

Basic Background: My family and I have started a little family business and are trying our best to learn things along the way and have taken many classes from "gurus". We have been looking at basically investing in some single mobile homes, in mobile home parks that meet our criteria of what we would want to one day purchase.
Let's go back a few months....
I was calling around in the Muncie, Indiana area, and trying to find out what the going lot rent was there and to find out info on some of the parks. This one call I made will hopefully make all the difference in the world with my investment goals. I started talking to the sweetest old man, and had called with the intention of "moving to the area and needing info". To make a long story short, he told me all kinds of stories, how he got started, how he acquired his 2 parks, and what type of deals he made to buy them. He as well is a Christian, and ended up praying on the phone with me. He told me he was going to be 80 soon, and his wife wants him to sell everything and retire, but he was just not ready to slow down. After our hour and a half long convo, he told me to please keep in touch.
Well Tuesday I decided to call him back, even though it had been a few months. I was hoping he would remember me. I had all kinds of notes of everything we had talked about, from his son who lived out here in Cali like myself, to his invention that he could not yet tell me about because he was waiting on the patent number. My plan was to tell him that he got me to thinking, and I started researching investing into mobile homes and parks and to see what he thought of the whole business. As soon as I called, he instantly knew who I was, and told me that he was turning 80 tomorrow (yesterday, so guess who got a birthday call!). To make this long story come to an end, he has agreed to walk me through the process and help me with what he can. He said he was honored that a young 24 year old girl would want to learn from an old geezer like himself, but that I had a huge advantage over him because he had only been doing this since he was 55, and for 25 years. 25 years of experience, that would be crazy for me to pass this up! He once again prayed with me on the phone, and told me he knew that I was going to be a successful young lady one of these days!

Sorry, but I was very excited, and had to share this story! I love doing what I do, and meeting these neat people along the way just makes it all that much better!!!! Hope everyone is digging deeper and pushing forward!!!

Stay Blessed,
Sabrina Laplante

This goes to show exactly what Ned Carey says. Mentors find you, kinda. You don't necessarily find them. I "lucked" into a mentor/partner just recently, right here on BP. And through that short relationship others are already being built which will fast-track my ability to start doing my own deals.

The key is do SOMETHING. ANYTHING towards starting your RE adventure. Know what you have to offer, and find someone who needs what you have.

Congrats! and keep us posted on how it goes.
