With respect to marketing to people browsing in the airport or book store, who aren't already into investing, it may not grab their attention.

Being near a lot of major airports having one where you want is not as crazy as it seems. 

I would be somewhat skeptical about the area since the main draw now is only the airport. usually the neighborhoods closer to 580 are better than 880My closest partners have all bought and rented properties in the east Oakland with no issues.

Any rural properties that are within 20 minutes of the airport and/or downtown Portland or Vancouver are very attractive and strategic properties to pick up.

its isolated I used to fly in there the airport is super cool.. but some really good values there not sure how STR would work.. but lots of bang for the buck.. will let others comment on South America I suspect some good values I have seen developments in Brazil for instance but foreign ownership other than Canada scares me personally..
