@Marco Morkous the main thing to know about Birmingham is that it varies wildly from street to street.

I live in the modern equivalent of a Wild West gold mining town.

For me, this seems on the high end but not wild, but agree that the labor costs seem high compared to cost of items purchased.

Property taxes and processes can vary wildly from state, to county, to city even.
