Since 2006, I replaced all three bathrooms in the house, refinished the hardwoods, rugs, hot water heater, air conditioner, added pavers in the rear patio, replaced all windows and the list goes on and on as I’m sure everyone can imagine.

Our college rental we have a vinyl product in the basement /rec area, hardwood in the living/dining area with area carpet (cheap) over it, bedroom carpet or tile.If you have hardwood as a base anywhere I would keep and refinish.

I would try goof-off if its really stubborn, if it is stained wood I would look at some wood cleaners/ and possibly sand and refinish portion to match depending on area and quality of unit.Also give TSP a try.
