That room is now missing one shingle, and I'd just as soon re-roof it now before it leaks and I have to do interior repair on it, as I have to do on my home-to the tune of at least $685.

I personally would opt to remove shingles and start fresh no matter how many layers, but I have a small crew at my disposal, and for me it makes more sense to me to do it that way.
