Most Medicaid communities aren't nearly as nice as private-pay communities so if a senior can afford private-pay, they will almost always want to go that way instead of trying to qualify for Medicaid.Secondly, how does escrow benefit you? 

Whether or not a passive investment in a private opportunity works for you depends on many things.

Usually it's not RE meet-ups, more likely it's golf clubs, private bars, coffee shops in affluent areas, ski areas, etc.

Thanks @Iris OlivasI did some searches and ended up on a site that provided state by state listings of Private Lenders some of whom did 75k and up. 

Some people really can't sleep with that, and so they told us about it, thankfully in the private Airbnb comments.
