@Amanda Berry I know that's common in employment settings, more for protection from liability than anything else.The one question you might get an answer to and is worth a try is "would you rent to this person again?"

I grew up in Bend and it's beautiful but instead of heavily forested think lots of Junipers and dirt and beautiful mountain views.
