Trying to figure out the “real” cost of installing a new central AC unit and replace existing old furnace.This is in San Jose, CAHome is 1600 sq ft - 2 story Got quotes that range from 8.5k to 15kI guess the need is a 3.5 ton compressor and a 2 stage energy efficient furnace.

Had we thought about them prior, we may have made a different decision.When all of our baseboards are calling for heat at the same time, we are running at about 18KW.We could replace them with one compressor and 4 heads at about $7,300 (after rebates).

I had a flip a little larger than that, two stories that previously had radiators, where new ductwork was installed (both upstairs and down), returns were installed (again both upstairs and down), thermostat, AC electric disconnect installed, plus gas furnace and compressor - all that for around $7K.Regarding splitting profits - first you have to both agree on what will be considered allowed expenses!
