It’s awesome to see your enthusiasm for long-distance investing and buy-and-hold rentals—it’s a smart strategy that can work well with the right systems in place.

It'll be nice to have that behind me.And yes, in the Denver area the inflation of house values has outpaced my ability to save, so that's one reason why I decided to try investing from a distance. 

What you can also do is attend local or long-distance meetings and meet with people who are landlords in NYC. 

First, what's your comfort zone for distance?

There are some people coming back because there's a segment of the population who love living in the city and being walking distance to restaurants, stores etc. 

Like @Nicholas L. said, maybe look within a reasonable driving distance from where you live, is there any city or state where you have family or friends that live there where you could travel to frequently and they could keep on the property for you or somewhere you visit a lot.  

I'd like to keep my properties within a 30 minute drive from my South Everett residence.A fun fact about me outside of real estate: I love distance running and cycling.

The main reason/difference between this and the delivery of electrical energy is that the losses of transmission of electrical energy are generally less than 1-2% (that's why we use electrical transmission methods over long distances, generally speaking).
