@Brock Lister,Hubzu and some other auction sites use an odd variation on "proxy bidding" where your opponent in the resulting "bidding war" turns out to be the auction site itself on the seller's behalf trying to push you up closer to the reserve price (secret).From what I've read and heard, the best advice seems to be set an MAB (Maximum Allowable Bid) for yourself and stick to it.
