Sounds like a bad idea; imagine what happens when your car is broken into and the thief finds those keys ... jackpot!

It's really there for the peace of mind, I can always get in regardless of what car I am driving (rental key ring is in my car) or if police or fire or medical personnel needed to gain access, they can always get in--without bulldozing the door.     

If things don't change on Monday (hoping they resolve over the weekend as she will have time to get friends to help her move-she has no car), I am going to call someone to serve them with notice again. 

Sell the car is the easy answer, but doesn't take everything into consideration.
