Learn as much as you can by reading asking questions, and take action that will get you going.I recommend the Ultimate Beginner's Guide that is free on BP It's fun, interesting, and gives you food for thought.Other actions you can take are attending REIA meetings in your area; taking a real estate class at your local community college; going to a workshop on how to build your credit score; and sitting in on a first time home buyer's workshop. The salary of an engineer along with your critical thinking and math background is going to contribute to your success in real estate.

My first post :) I'm new to REI and followed the shiny into buying ($390) and attending a goofy 3-day workshop (currently sitting in Day 2 in Danvers, MA) on tax lien buying by TAX LIEN WEALTH BUILDERS, previously known as UNITED TAX LIENS, founded by Jay Drexel, who also built MarketPlacePro.It's been almost useless, a giant patronizing waste of time (as @John Underwood and @Ned Carey has driven home - don't pay for education you could obtain more quickly and thoroughly on the googs or through networking), but an interesting exercise in appreciating their polished presentations, sales strategies, and trying to understand what these people's actual business model is by reading between the lines of all the shiny idealized and exaggerated examples of rapid wealth generation.

I would like to start charging memberships for more value such as national speakers, workshops, round table groups, and a lot more that I don't want to go into on here.
