Since you mention the tenants were military, you might want to check out this post for some ideas: https://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/52/topics/593030-publicly-shaming-an-evicted-former-tenant-do-it-or-not (not the public shaming part but there were plenty of ideas from posters about how to deal with military tenants who left damages and owing money somewhat similar to your situation)

The land trusts can also be utilized to remove your name from public record for a given property, as you can have your attorney sign as the "nominee trustee" of the land trust, then have yourself become the "trustee" after the signing is done - per the language you use to form the land trust.

@Andy MirzaThe ERISA plan asset rules may come into play if pension funds are used unless the funds main line of business is the development of real estate (REOC), or the fund is a publicly traded company registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940.To qualify as a REOC the fund must invest at minimum 50% of its assets in qualifying real estate considered managed or being developed.
