Hello @Jessyca Jones I would suggest no and low money down - Brandon Turner ( this book will give you some insight on how to invest in RE multiple ways using CREATIVITY instead of CASH) and managing rental properties- Brandon turner this book is by far my favorite because he literally goes through every trial tribulations you will endure and lays out what it means to be a landlord.

But it’s trial and error.

They're expensive, but I'm pretty sure they have a trial.

None of us on this site is able to make that decision for you, so perhaps an honest conversation with your wife and mutually agreeable limits to a smaller scale trial (lower risk with potential upside) is the best way to look at the situation.  

There does not seem to be a lot of short-term rental options on Airbnb in the Dallas area, specifically in the Park Cities, Knox-Henderson, Turtle Creek, Katy Trial areas.

The truth is, you could read 100 books and still not know enough because certain things need to be learned through trial-and-error.
