I am looking for an insured roofer to fix some of the recent damage and a couple of roofs. 

GC's, roofers, architects etc. tend to give a quote for free, especially if there's a lucrative contract involved.

The roofer wants the job.

I have learned that a lot of problems stem from poor communication, and this problem might mend itself if both of you understood each other.

I have seen tongue and groove roofers, plywood, but never 2x4s as a subfloor.

Buyer is willing to replace shingles on his own but will not pay our roofer to do it.I’m mad in principle but the 300 isn’t a big deal.

Roofers can price you out using satellite imagery, without even needing a visit (for a new roof -- spot repairs will need a visit). 

I have been extraordinarily frustrated by the roofers in this area.
