Unfortunately, it's hard to be profitable in the STR world without 'going all in' nowadays! 

I know nowadays the rage is all low/no money down deals, and maybe I'm just not educated in that world enough to find the deals and get them done, but quite frankly for me it's been having enough cash in the bank to put down substantial downs that allow for monthly cash flow.2.

This is tougher to pull off nowadays.

If you can get that main piece off in one piece, it could be re-cut.....but then you have to find a buyer who wants that exact color/style instead of going and buying their own..... there are so many cool products out there nowadays, even pre-finished.

Same thing for cameras: I like old style trail cameras with a memory card (for rural properties personally) but if you have wifi onsite, or if you're willing to sign up for monthly fee (services for $5/month and up) the ones with a sim card are getting really affordable nowadays too. 

"Cash Flow" nowadays seems to be a lot tougher than the years past with rates and home prices (and HOAs) the way they are.

And I’ll let you in on my experience of 40 plus years in real estate, and having personally met many of he older time gurus; take away the slick presentation (prepared by a marketing firm in either Las Vegas, Nevada, or in Provo, Utah), the “glamour” shot appearance makeover, the unsubstantiated resume and personal history, and the buzz words and motivational bs, and what you’re left with is most times a salesman/marketer and NOT someone who has had much if any success investing in real property.   

Which seems strange why they would tie up money but nowadays the scams are pretty creative.

Heck even Doug Fir is water-logged nowadays.
