Houses were selling for 20% higher than list (or what they were worth), and cash buyers are predominantly from China- and they care much less about the value and much more about getting their money out of the unpredictable Chinese economy and into a "safe" space.

I know that Russia and China are trying to dump the dollar, which won't work, and that Turkey, Venezuela and Argentina are on the verge of collapse.

I have heard that appliance prices have gone up after recent trade tariffs on China imports.

Everyone can panic thinking the world is going to collapse over trade, tarriffs, war in Israel, Russia, China, North Korea, climate change, fires in the west, or you fill in the blank.  

I personally believe there is opportunity in China.

Last year, the Dominican Republic's economy grew by an astounding 7.3%, well above China's growth rate.

Sustainability (because we're a nation that imports more than we export and shipping empty containers to China takes fuel) might be another reason, but by the time all the holes are cut in the steel frame and the container has been modified to live in, the embodied energy in that little container (even after taking shipping into account) is probably higher than FSC-certified stick frame construction.  

Won't be up that way until late Sept or October since I'm heading to China next week but when I get back I'll be needing to head to Detroit for some real estate reasons I'll definitely be in GR for a bit too.
