I would take a trip to see your investment if you have the time.. but I do work with plenty of investors with limited time, that buy plenty of successful deals without ever seeing them.Getting a full inspection of the house should give you better insight into the property than even if you were to just walk it, so you should be fine.

If you are buying a single family house, two trips per year will likely eat up all your "free cash flow", so you might as well have it be a place you would go anyways to visit family, or near a vacation spot, etc.
