There should be a little lip or reveal edge along where the frame on the front of the cabinet meets the side wall, so when you install the 3/16" end panel it will wind up being flush (no lip or reveal). 

My opportunities, though promising, still need time to fully flush themselves out.

You make think you'll make a smaller return if you don't do everything yourself but all it will take is you making one wrong turn and your annual cash flow may be flushed if you buy wrong.
