My wife is American, and we have been thinking of looking at doing some down there as well but unsure how that would work. 

It's a survival tactic out in the society, and to keep himself compliant with parole.

All of this based upon American tax laws, if you are paying under the Canadian system I have no idea how it will affect your taxes. 

I think it's more for American markets.

Also, since we're coming out of a recession (and since savings are relatively low) it's likely that within the next 5-10 years, American households' savings will increase.

Google “virtual bookkeeper” or “offshore bookkeeper” - you should be able to find someone for $4-$10/hr who knows this stuff better than everyone on this thread & would be extremely grateful to acquire extra work from “rich americans” so they can afford to feed their kids.I use offshore VAs extensively for things like this & much more to operate my STRs to free me up for things such as leisure activities & growing my wealth by buying new properties.P.s.
