@Kathy Creighton-SmithYou need to calculate your Return on Equity and then figure out if you can get a better return investing the money in something else. 

It's called something else that I can't recall at the moment, but they'll know and be able to guide you in the right direction.Since there is a large amount of equity in the rental home, just be sure that your new HOI policy has good coverage and possibly think about an Umbrella Policy or additional insurance coverage to "protect you" vs. trying to reinvent the wheel and forming an LLC just for the one property.SD

Also, they state that if I'm found to have violated these peoples Human Rights, that I can lose my other Low Income Housing Tax Credits (aka Section 8 at my other property).The complaints also state that these individuals suffered "anguish" forEven if we decided to fight this, which we probably would have a decent chance at winning, it will cost me thousands in lawyer hourly billings vs. just paying out a settlement to these people.At this point, my lawyer has filed an extension with NY Division of Human Rights and should be reaching out to the non-profit behind all of this mess some point soon.It sucks because it will be more expensive to fight it and win, than to just take the L and pay them out a settlement.

They recommend anyone else that this has happened to also file a complaint and they will investigate.

It was either a glitch or was grabbed by accident as something else was trying to be removed.

i’m assuming you have some sort of business there or part of someone else’s business.

You'll also have some builders that this may be the tipping point for them to not build new units in the area and go somewhere else.

So, it's a numbers game like anything else. 

Between annoying the building department, and then them messing with you.

You do NOT want to buy someone else's probems - unless:1) You know how to fix them2) You get a discount for taking their problems onYou can make a lot of money if you know what you are doing:)
