If you want to do something nice, what I would recommend is going to the local grocery store, buying a gift card for that store so they can get groceries for their family for a week/month or make a nice holiday dinner for their family.

Ask them their advice - offer to buy them dinner when you come to the city to investigate.  

But be prepared to spend a lot on lunches and dinners.

The corp also pays for a nice steak dinner at least once a month for meetings to discuss company business and also talk business with other investors.

-Matt  Mom comes to live with you, in return she helps make dinner, but gets to go out to dinner when you go out at no cost to her.She pet sits, baby sits and vacuums (good exercise) as needed.She gets here own room with her own wall mounted TV and stuff from her old house in a storage unit.She can park in the garage if it makes her feel safer (outside may have slippery ice or a steep driveway).She rents the house out at whatever the market will bear, after a complete (unit turn type) deep cleaning by paid maids.Any needed fixes are done and good SCREENED renters are chosen, maybe use a management company.Think tax problems when you might put yourself on the deed, allocate income between her and you.Send her on a cruise every 6 months to somewhere fun--Acapulco, Alaska, etc...If you have kids they will probably love having grandma stay there, and she can bring them souvenirs back from her travels.She could also join a bowling league for those of her own age and gender, which is also good exercise.Good Luck!

If it were just me, I'd eat ramen for breakfast lunch and dinner, live in my car, and just make it work. 

Buy them dinner.  

@Karen Polis  I would really get with @Steve Babiak  REIA group before going into those.I had the pleasure of a dinner with Steve when I was in Pa a year or so ago.. and he started to talk to me about Tax sales etc in that state and boy are they complicated .. even for someone like me who has been doing it for decades..

Varinder has to request a colleage request, wait until it's approved, then come back to the thread (if he remembers which one it is, and tag him....it's like having soup at the dinner table but having to go back to the store to get a spoon. how is that efficient?
