My "compromise" with myself is that I pay 1/2 of my mortgage payment every two weeks, resulting in 1 extra payment / year and shaving about 5 years off the loan.

I found a big safe hidden and cemented under the flooring in one house..It took me 2 full days to grind the lock out and all I found in it was lots of metal shavings :-(

However, if you do need to remove it - ie. you were going to put 1-2" of rigid foam insulation over the exterior of the house -  it is one of the asbestos abatements which can safely be done yourself.

Plan of action: re-seal the light and shave off the bottom of the doors upstairs. and no more long tea time in the bathroom :)
