My brother is sick of renting and I want to help him buy his first home-- ultimately, we want to flip or rent after 1-3 yrs.

So my options is selling and paying off all debt but eliminate a great cash flowing investment, or keep it and pay dept off over next 10 yrs with very limited opportunities to continue investing or save much

The best thing that ever happened to the major banks was the 25 billion dollar settlement of 5 yrs ago.  

If they have, for a couple yrs, paid a certain amount for rent then chances are this will continue.

@Bjorn Ahlblad lol i have been to Tacoma like 10-15 yrs ago and it was a sleepy little town.

so, 3-5 years, a free paintjob, another 3-5. youd have MAYBE spent 200 total for the first paintjob, and thats 6-10 yrs for 225 bucks ($150 in a hotel or apt!)!

I took over operations 3 yrs ago and wished I took over 10yrs before that.

Have worked a job type job for 20 yrs (city bus driver) and got what I want from that plus aches and pains.

Why does it only need to last 4-6 yrs?

They aren't in great shape but it certainly cleaned them up and will have them looking good for years to come.We are just finishing the front exterior and I'm starting to paint inside with the front needing to be stained after (weather is really co-operating with us so far)Tenant who is moving in is a long term tenant of ours (24+ yrs at that address) and will be moving to the lower unit with no stairs to climb.
