If I had lost 20k that would have sucked, but I wasn't going to end up homeless, or unable to ever earn money again.

I just donate to the homeless or goodwill, along with towels.

Once they get 1% of landlords revenue I could see it going up to 2% ,3% in the next years .On the related note San Francisco is also proposing an additional tax on businesses for the homeless . https://www.cnbc.com/2018/07/17/san-francisco-to-consider-tax-on-companies-to-help-homeless.html——OAKLAND — As the Bay Area struggles with an alarming homelessness crisis, voters may soon decide whether to force Oakland’s biggest landlords to pay up to help house the city’s most vulnerable residents.Oakland Councilwoman Rebecca Kaplan wants to impose an extra 1 percent annual tax on rental revenue that exceeds $200,000, and use that money to fund homeless shelters, help homeless residents secure permanent housing and clean up the sprawling encampments that line many of the city’s sidewalks. The city needs more money to tackle the problem, and collecting it from Oakland’s biggest-earning landlords makes sense, Kaplan said.

I would try and find a contractor that knows what they are doing and are virtually homeless and you can offer them a cheap place to stay while they do the rehab.

I found the following article to be interesting:https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/06/homelessness-soars...Nobody wants homeless people in their neighborhoods yet those very people buying the houses in today's market are in a way, contributing to the growing population of homelessness (in the markets mentioned in the article of course).

Especially if he thinks of you as a friend... and a homeless vet that wants to work to keep a roof over his head sounds like someone I wouldn't mind being friends with.

I've been renting a house for awhile.. years actually.. and it has every problem you can think of.. mostly rats and bugs because theres holes and cracks in the doors and places in carpet where mice or rats been getting in and out. then guy raised my rent so i could get pest control but only does it like every 10 months. just say i found something better but the real question is this if i give my landlord a 30 day notice (im not on a lease) but the place im trying to move to might not actually be ready for maybe a week or two after the 30 day notice so in that time ill be homeless if i decided to move out after the 30 days..

Based on feedback from other hosts I will probably add a TV in the living room and portable air conditioning in the bedroom this Spring.I am very careful not to allow long stays because I want families that are vacationing -- not homeless people who seek to establish residency.
