Your lender will have the exact details.If the current leases don't align with your timeline for moving in, another option is to explore a DSCR (Debt Service Coverage Ratio) loan or a traditional investment loan.

You can get some insurance on unpermitted units, a lower coverage amount than for a permitted unit and will have difficulty rebuilding it as a permitted unit at the covered amount (which makes sense because its value is less than a permitted unit).  

If there wasn’t damage coverage by the state, I would be much more hesitant. 

I would love to join in a protest, media coverage, lawsuit, etc. to show the different reasons this is hurting landlords.

If you talk to someone like the folks at Wren Insurance Agency (from what I read in the Wall Street Journal), you’ll find they’ve been adapting to the shifting market conditions with some interesting coverage options.

More than likely scenario will be investors picking away at the carcass of what RAD left behind...Furthermore, it doesn't appear any insurance coverage would exist based on the purported facts. 

The most important thing is liability coverage.
