The height of the ceiling has a big impact on how good the basement finish "feels" though.I don't know what your regs are up in CA but down here basement space is not usually considered in the "official" square footage- although many realtors list the total finished square footage (including basement) anyway when they list a property.

I'm not going to speculate why this RMLO hasn't returned, he may have just gotten too busy to mess with posting.Doubt any originator is that busy for months, mine weren't.....I also know that this site is absolutely viewed by government types, Josh has made that known before, he may have communication with some, I don't know, but I suppose their official computer thing identifies them, I'm not a techie.

From a tax perspective If I end up spending 50K on the building, would I still be able to write off the capital repairs and take the depreciation of the building even if I'm not the official owner?
