Some are older, some don't speak English, and some don't trust the Internet for money transfers. 

English isn't my first language so if something is misunderstood it is probably my fault... 

Another consideration is if you'll be working at a US company or Japanese company, and if Japanese, then you would likely need to have all your income related documents translated into English for the benefit of a US-based lender.

Since tenants are immigrants, they either don't speak English or very limited English so direct communication isn't always possible. 

Certain neighborhoods are starting to see private equity come in to help turn them around; Grandmont/Rosedale, Bagley, East English Village, Corktown, etc.

:)I like Lowell with those rentals just because cash flow is much better than most places within an hour of Boston.As for why Acton and Westford are high markets there are plenty of reasons but the easiest thing to look at are the schools. 10th grade MCAS scores for 2013 have Acton-Boxborough High ranked in English tied for 34th in the state with a score of 99/100 (So that just means 33 schools got a perfect score, of about 350 that were ranked), in Math tied for 6th with a 98/100 and in Science they tied for 6th with a 97/100.
