Also, if there's is a limited number of STR in a popular tourist area, they get booked no matter how bad the listing looks!

We have kept our prices low this month since we don't have any reviews on this property, but we are already booked for Birkshire Hathaway (huge tourist event for Omaha) and a few Creighton games. 

I’m in the Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg market and I think most folks would agree it has the biggest Vacation Rental returns in the country largely in part to the year round bookings and 12 million annual tourists.

New Orleans is really an ideal place to do STR as it is a tourist city all year long.

Converting your residential units into STRs can be a solution for certain otherwise-difficult units, but it's not a catch-all solution, and tourists don't like living in a basement cave any more than a resident does. 

The fact that investors are considering a hotel downtown is encouraging but more is needed to bring tourists especially with Chicago, Milwaukee, and Madison near by.In my opinion, with the current Illinois debt and the conservative Governor's budget, the state is not likely to contribute much to the Amtrack expansion anytime soon.

All those are real towns rather than being tourist oriented.
